Expanding your listening

To start this post, I think listen to 1 or 2 genres of music is the absolute worst thing you could do to yourself. This is because their are so many other ideas and joys in other genres of music that sticking to only one really hurts your musical experience.  I think the greatest enjoyment i have with music is that I can listen to hardcore band and then switch to a jazz band.  You learn so many different things from each genre of music from a musical aspect to a cultural aspect.  I myself probably listen to over 20 genres and I enjoy them all differently.  So to finish this, I think people really should expand their music listening because you never know what you might like.

  1. I absolutely agree. Variety really is the spice of life. With the introduction of technologies like Pandora and iHeart internet radio, I have been able to easily explore different genres of music, as well as get exposure to new bands that I was previously unfamiliar with within a given genre. I naturally am inclined to gravitate towards certain types of music though, such as classic rock. Maybe it's a generational thing, but I'm usually open to listening to new stuff. The one genre that I honestly have very little affinity for is rap. Nothing personal to those who love it, but I fail to see the attraction.
